Well, it says "coming soon", yet the screenshots shows that Windows XP is recognizing the processor. Is that possible?

Good question - and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition supports up to 128 gigabytes (GB) of RAM and 16 terabytes of virtual memory. So are they using virtual memory?!? BUT - it seems like they don't use the x64 Edition (if you look at the screenshots).

and take a look at this,

Almost the same. It must be a hoax!!

Hmmmm... but they guy that owns the company, Shimon Gendlin, really has a couple of patents (#5,841,689 for example,
Non-volatile record carrier with magnetic quantum-optical reading
effect and method for its manufacture) from 1998.

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/ces20047.htm

I'm confused...

More about Gendlin,

and this web page looks more "serious",

It's possible, has i've already said somewhere in these forums the revolution in computation would come from optical processators / ram.

The concept reads real to me, the electrical signal is converted to light and sent to the processator/ram and then back again to electrical output!

If this is true, then i've confirmed my profecy!

They are already selling the IDE/ATAPI non-volatile ram at $2.5 a Gb (HD replacement) and the 144pin SODIMM ram at $4.5 the GB (RAM replacement)...

http://atomchip.com/_wsn/page2.html

Seems only the CPU is not being sold!

the 2.5$ pr gb @ hd isnt really cheap, but its probably fast as hell.
But 4.5$ pr GB RAM!! can it be true?
I guess it does need a special motherboard though

seems its not a fake! the web is full with infos about the atom chip and its patent owner! first docs are available and announcement in 1996! 1 GB Ram for unter 10 euros!? coool! But the price for the hardware is to expensive atm! Let us wait until producing for mass!

Edit:
Please help... what means "HOAX" ? Is it another word for something like "a fake"? thanks

Hoax, means trick to fool you into buying...

And no, it does not require any special system, from the specs i read it has adapters for IDE/ATAPI,
normal DIMM slots, and USB!

More info here:

Seems that for now they only sell 1Tb (@ $2500)

Well, I hope it is true! :D A quantum leap in technology - and it would give AMD and Intel a match.

When I think about it... If someone had told me 25 years ago, when I had my brand new ZX81 with 1 kB memory and a tape recorder as storage media - that in 25 years you will have 1 TB storage media (3 harddisks) and almost everyone will have access to a large global network called the Internet, I would have laught and called them dreamers...

(Ohhh sh*t... Is it 25 years ago?!?! It seems like yesterday! )

As a note, this is the tech used now by stupids national defense organisms:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_memory

Is that called atomchip Quantum-Optical technology (i have serious doubts they work using light quantums) using the hologram technology? other? mmm!
however it seems really nice :)
