Windows Vista changes/news on the development point of view?

Post by ricardo »

Hi

I was wondering (on the development point of view) which will be the changes or additions of Windows Vista?

I read something about new Visuals in WV (Windows Vista), XAML, etc. but just was a fast read. Did this (or anyother thing) will be a really big change on WV?

BTW, what is WinFX? Gadgets? And all this new stuff people are talking about?

WinFX is the new .NET OOP API for Vista.

Windows has never really changed much from version to version. Looking
at Vista screenshots, it still just looks like a prettied-up Windows XP to me.
It still has a Start button and Taskbar, for crying out loud. Where's the new
innovative stuff? Bah. Just the same stuff but more RAM needed to run it.

My prediction is that all current apps will work fine with it, including what we
compile with PureBasic. There will be more API commands and functionality,
like there is when you compare 98 to XP, but the basic underlying functions
will all be the same. Personally, Vista doesn't impress me at all. :P
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).
