"1. Just write "Address Book 1.04" in the titlebar!
THEN write the copyright thingies in the about menu!"

That's my choice, it's where I like it.

"2. In the menu's, dont have a seperater at bottom of the menu's!"

See above.

"3. Im not sure i like the yellow colour a lot, how about a "settings" menu?
And also if you remove that colour, and just make it plain gray [at older windows like 2k and so on, it might look nice., enable XP skin..!"

YUK! The day I make anything of mine boring microsoft grey is the day they start paying me a lot of money. I tested the Appface skin on it before and that made it look radical.

"4. The "key's" should open in the listview too, now the help does it."

Don't understand.

"Btw, a little idea if you want to make money on it, or make it even more popular: Make it a part of a personal Organizer."

Don't have the time, the money, the skills or the experience.

"It should just include the basic things, like Address Book [already done], a TODO list that could feature different projects, i mean multible todo lists, that could be saved on disc etc.
Calendar, just SIMPLE with appointments etc. AND include an ALARM in it i need that for simple stuff. When minimizing it, it should go to thread. You should make it be using the less system recourses you can."

No. It's an address book, no need to bloat it, my name isn't microsoft and there are a gazillion multifunctional programs out there that blow mine into the water.

"And add some more features too, if it doesnt use too much recourses. Why im telling all this: there arent many on the market that can do this simple and that stuff. "

Once again, no It's an address book. No need to make it anything else. It's small, portable and does exactly what my family and friends want. The fact that other people might use it is purely co-incidental and of academic interest to me only.

"Ok its just ideas, take 'm or leave 'm"

Thanks for the feedback but all beyond the scope of my time, skills and imagination.

Done!

Since it's probably something I would keep open most of the time, I would prefer a minimize to system tray option, rather then having it on the taskbar all the time.

Nice application. Thanks for sharing.
Added: Now minimises to tray with tooltip.
Fixed: Copyright message scrolling off the screen.

Check included doc file for rest of changes.

The latest version works here, did you download that one? Paul told me he couldn't add records and I fixed it in the new url I gave the other person.

Look up to a few posts above:):)

New version, v1.42

Post by Fangbeast »

http://members.optusnet.com.au/fangbeas ... 0v1.42.rar

1. Can now import foreign address books.
2. Can now apply field mapping to foreign file.
3. Can save field map to file.
4. Can load field map file and apply it.

To do: Export address book, printing.

Probably loads of bugs but then I can't think of everything:):)

**NOTE** Address book uses standard CSV format (for now). That is Double quote for data and comma as field delimiter. Will add more choices later when everyone is sure this is stable.

Have fun or not. Use it or not. Test it and give me feedback if you are going to use it. If you just want to feed you ego by feeding me comments, don't waste my time.

I'll get right on it. Must feed the family first:)

*EDIT* Okay, I found a bug with the Purebasic date picker gadget. I hade a date of 1932 for one entry and the moment I hit that date, the gadget would no longer respond for any record I had. Will be handing this to Fred shortly. Oops, look I spoke to soon. It might be a subclassing or callback conflict somewhere damn it.

Yeah, throw them a bone

That's great. It's pretty simple, yet impressive address database :)

DateGadget again

Post by Fangbeast »

Freak pointed out to me that I had misused the date gadget. I was actually setting the mask instead of the date. Will fix this tonight.

That led me to a further problem. The gadget doesn't support dates before 1970 and as most of the thousands of people I will be keeping records of have birth dates well beyond that, this presents a dilemma to me personally.

Someone told me to create an API one as MSDN states that Windows supports dates as far back as 1632 (or was it 1603?? I think it was 1632:):)) but I shouldn't have to do that!!!

And I am too tired and brain dead lately to want to hack my forms so it will stay with that limitation until someone can find an API to force it to accept earlier dates.

Wouldn't it be easier to just add three Spingadgets or something?

Portable SQLite Address Book, v1.44

Post by Fangbeast »

Just released the fixed version. This replaces the inbuilt PB date gadget with an API one without the date limitations and fixes what few bugs I found.

@Geotrail This solves the locking date problem too:):)

@Horst Schaeffer Thanks for pointing me to your code. I was unable to understand it all but it allowed me to fix this program.

@Dige Thanks for pointing me in the right direction in the first place.

@Everyone else. I apologise for all the complaining i've been doing. Being a diabetic causes some depression (although mild in my case) and I am unable to always think through it.

Here is the link to the new version, document file is also updated with the changes.
