another little tip that tends to work sometimes is to run a memory defragmentor [afaik it just fills up the ram and releases it again, but you really do gain several mbytes and it can sometimes help on performance.!]dagcrack wrote:well depends mostly on your gfx card - proccessor - memory and hdd (talking about the speed of all of this)
good card + fast proccessor + fast and plenty memory ram + fast hdd = smooth gameplay.
performance tips for oldie hardware.... res 640x480 at 16 bits.. med-quality texture ... no AA (if supported dont use it....) ... med-sound quality (if you got a good sound card then leave this to the max...) ... dont use v/p shaders (if supported) .... close any program that could be sucking proccessor power... that is for any game though
Close unneded things not only if they suck processor power, but also if they use many ram. Like OpenOffice quickstarter, it uses 34 mbytes here when its idle!
HL2 is simply the best game ever made. It is pretty as hell on high end machines, but also rather pretty at the lower end BUT IT RUNS GOOD both places! Hell, you CAN play it on an 1ghz with 256mbytes of ram, and a geeforce 2 64 mbyte gcard!HL2:
Graphics - 90%
Playbility - 90%
Longivity - 85% (4th time replay here)
I agree at some few heavy places it goes a bit slow but normally it runs great! At mine it also runs great.
And gameplay is faboulus.
That's exactly why it's crap.good card + fast proccessor + fast and plenty memory ram + fast hdd = smooth gameplay.
I consider my computer as a "not so old" one. Ok, it's only p4 1.5ghtz, 384mo rdram, Geforce 5 fx5200 128mo. But if a game is not running perfect on it, for me, the game is badly coded.
I agree, they spend there time making this crap to earn more money when they should be squashing bugs in DBPro!Polo wrote:The only thing I can say is it has been made by the Dark Basic Software guys, so it's crap![]()
Check out this bug forum for bug in DBPro that are still there from launch a few years ago.:

Just click the 'Next' button a few times to see the scale of the bug problem in DBPro.

They'll let this one get popular for a bit then drop it like a.... well you know what I mean...once people report bugs.
I absolutely hate darkbasic and that team and if I could get my money back I certainly would.
