Anything for the PocketPC or SmartPhone?

Post by Beach »

I would like to hack a few apps for the PocketPC and my SmartPhone... Is Visual Studios .NET the only thing out there? I have an older version of eVB 3.0 and I found a mod to make it create apps for 2000 and 2003 SmartPhones. I'm just wondering if there is something better out there people are using - I'm not having any luck searching on Google.

I own a PDA and make software using eVB 3 (which is freeware now).

I know eVB now has a .net version :).... which is not free ...

I use Jamagic for PocketPC software and PalmC & OrbForms for PalmOS software.

I do not use it, but I have a buddy who swears by NS Basic

Try this, i dont know if you can build Applications for PDA and Smartphones with it:
Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition Beta 2 is a streamlined, easy-to-use development tool for hobbyists, students, and novices. The Express Edition makes Windows programming with Visual Basic fun and easy to learn. It’s also the perfect way for experienced Visual Basic 6.0 developers to try out new features.
and it's free. You'll find it there: http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/v ... fault.aspx

Why don't use Pelles C!!! :!: :!:

http://www.smorgasbordet.com/pellesc/

He has support for Pocket PC (even install builders) and Smartphones and includes one or two examples. The executables are small and not so bloated as Jamagic and VB.

AND we all know that Pelle Ontarius do good stuff, or...

(I HATE Jamagic and ClickTeam, not an update for over 2.5 year. The product are useless and they still sell it as it was new on their web site. For $399, Pro Version with Pocket PC support. AND they remove any negative posts from their Forum. :x :x :x )

If you are going to do some J2ME stuff, check at Nokia's and Sun's web sites. They have some great free Development Tools.
