Personally, I'm always keen to know of the choices available to me, so if there is a new programming language out there, I would love to know about it! :) I've begun using PureBasic for a quick Windows program I'm writing and it sure is fun to use! However, right now, I'm not using it for games, as ...

I've written a few databases before in Access, and you'll find that with a bit of practice, it gets easier. What kind of a medical database are you thinking about writing, jmatienza? Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Alpha Five.

Welcome.

Why don't you just use Access for your database? It's pretty good by itself, and much easier than programming something from scratch.

Indeed.....

I think it's obvious that with 3d support to rival Blitz3d/Darkbasic a lot of their users would come to PB in droves......

So why doesn't Fred concentrate on 3D ? The sales of PB would be huge.....

Maybe Fred has a different agenda than making money ?

I don't know the answers ...

Interesting, looks good, but I found this tutorial screenshot of a supposed water reflection leaves something to be desired, from a physics/scientific viewpoint... ;)

I wouldn't write off Blitz Basic - I'm using it still to write my games. I don't know enough about GameMaker to comment... Am still learning to use PureBasic, but not for games. :)

I'm at Chapter 7 now - still makes good bedtime reading material, Kale! Here are a few more random suggestions:

- Page 10: "I have included many of examples" - delete the word "of"
- Page 24: when you first introduce the XOR keyword, perhaps it'll be good to explain that XOR is short for eXclusive ...

I didn't realize PureBasic has a one-pass compiler until I started reading Kale's book. I too would be keen for a two-pass option in the future because I'm so used to the latter. However, I do understand that it is not likely to happen, nor should it be one of Fred's priority! :)

First, Japanese Version.
Because it is serious to translate help and the book by KALE,
I writes it. I think that it can make an English version if there
is Shopro. Where is Shopro?

There can't be that many Japanese users ...
