(Edited because changing from 0 to 100 scale to 0 to 10000 scale cleared up the problem)
When using progress bar gadgets (Windows), I often see "shaking" in the displayed segment.
I thought it was the scaling of the value I am writing out, but I can't see how it would happen.
I have never seen the ...

Me? I like that one trick professional cryptologists hate!

Ah, yes... exploitation! I let my clients (and the folks who hire me) exploit me every day. I even give them discounts to encourage them to exploit me more.
I just wish I could do it faster, and more often. And I've "exploited" quite a few tech guys, but somehow they always end up making way more ...

Ah, the old "passing the tiny folded note in a tiny cafe in a small european city" cipher, and the only one that requires sun glasses to be worn if you want it to work. When used farther south - say, south of italy, I think one must wear both the sun glasses AND a fez.
It's very popular in movies ...

Re: For Windows only, Play Avi or Wave files from "Ram"
Very nice.
Any chance of a demo with many wav/avi/mp3 files loaded, and then played in a loop by random choice?
(with the loading part)
I'm very interested to see such examples, because some day I would like to keep a bunch of audio (or even video) snippets in ram and trigger them back with a click ...

Re: EndProcedure value
I basically do this now... using global vars. It's not my preferred way, but it works.
I really need to get under the hood of Purebasic, but my dream is to not do that!
I am the same way - I hate using elseif.

Re: Allowing permission on a directory programaticaly
A long time ago I started building diagnostics into my installers and often on programs as well.
These diagnostics explain permission errors and things like that. I found out that clients will often accept something printed on a screen blaming the environment, but quickly dispute the situation ...

Re: example of trivial text encoding/decoding for ascii stri
If you are going for 16 bits instead of 8, you have to change the routines to account for that.
An ideal encryption is almost indistinguishable from noise...although that in itself is a signature!
I can't take the time to describe so many kinds of signature, but there are many programs and systems ...

@nco2k
you guys are way overthinking this.
And yet I notice you still throw nibble swapping into the hat...another example of bit shifting. :)
It's fun to putter about with this stuff, and the computational cost is very low compared to AES.
The bad news... even after you take all the steps ...

Keya... delta encoding (diff) can still be useful if you restrict the character set/range.
You can't have both 8 bit clean encoding AND make exceptions for the null character...with one exception.
This is different than a ROT cipher (which should be called modulo) because instead of adding an ...

Question about bugfix/features/release process
I've been reading these posts and have some questions.
1. Are there sub-releases or fixes for versions? And if so, where is this information?
How do we tell what the latest version is?
In the open source world, there will be a page for such announcements showing bug
fixes and/or enhancements. But I ...
