Avira Antivir detects virus in PureHELPCompiler.exe

Post by NuclearFusion »

Hi,

I downloaded PureHelpC.zip from URL http://freenet-homepage.de/gnozal/PureHELPC.zip.

When I extract the file and execute PureHelpCompiler.exe Avira detects a probable virus using heuristics.

Can somebody check this file with some other scanner to verify? I will send the file to Avira support to have it checked.

TIA,
Arie

No problem here with Avira, but I don't have heuristic checking on either,
because that is prone to false positives and I only want to be informed of
known viruses, not imaginary ones. Maybe that's the cause for you?

Hi PB,

yes I have heuristics on, so it maybe a false positive.
I have sent the file to Avira Support.
Don't know how fast they respond ...

Thx,

The EXE is packed (PECompact), hence the false positive I guess.
No virus in my source.
For free libraries and tools, visit my web site (also home of jaPBe V3 and PureFORM).

Okay gnozal,

I'll switch off Avira heuristics then and start using your product :D

Thanks!

Most definitely. :) Heuristics are a stupid concept/feature. It's like a policeman
looking at someone walking by and deciding they're a criminal with no proof.

Guess how many people would send in their datakey file if a virus scanner stated it contained malicious code...

Hi,

FYI: Avira has responded that it is indeed a false positive :D
