DarkBasic Professional is now free (works with PureGDK!)

Post by Mistrel »

The Game Creators announced this month the release of a free (ad supported) version of DarkBasic Professional. Ads are only displayed when using the official IDE so you should be able to use it with third-party IDEs as well as PureGDK without advertisements. :)

235MB Download? I don't know... I mean if it was GLBasic maybe soI could make apps for iPhone... I owned an original version of DB... I was not thrilled though to all appearances it has improved 9,000,000%

But still... all to register would be a little DB Spam...

I am undecided. But leaning to YES FREE!!!
Binarily speaking... it takes 10 to Tango!!!

The breakdown of the installer is:
  • 14mb for the DBP compiler and plugins
  • 100mb for the help files including showcase example media and source code
  • 90mb for additional example projects
  • 120mb of free models, sounds, music, textures, icons, and bitmaps
  • 4mb for the BSP compiler
I just tested it. It works perfectly with PureGDK and with no ads! ;)

Don't worry, Rook! You can try it with the PureGDK demo which is free too:

A future version of PureGDK in dll form is in the works which will work with any language. All existing PureGDK owners will be automatically upgraded once it's released. This means that with the proper headers PureGDK will be available for any language that can call dll functions.

Even farther in the future I will begin experimenting with a Linux port.

DBP might not be the most powerful engine but my aim is to make it a versatile one with native support for many languages.

Great tip Mistrel -- Thanks!! I had to allow downloads from this site in ZA Pro before I could grab it.

BTW; you forgot to post a link for PureGDK next to your DBP link. (Yes we want everything and we want it free :) )
