I am not sure that this is true.
Iirc, an LGPL libray can be used by a non (L)GPL licensed program, which may be free software or not. Only if you use a GPL licensed library you have to publish the source code.
But I may be wrong.
It's not always easy to understand those licenses especially if english is not your native language.

You have to put the sourcecode of the LGPL software with the software that uses it. But IIRC it's also just if you've modified it.

GPL License = If parts or the whole of a code of a GPL'ed project is used then -> Release the source (also under the therms of the GPL!)

LGPL = If parts or the whole of a code of a LGPL'ed project is used without modification and the library is delivered as an original unmodified external .dll, then u dont have to release the source. Means if you want to use LGPL libraries without to be forced releasing your source, link dynamically and not statically.

A good example is ffmpeg. The main core is released under the LGPL, this makes it possible for commercial apps writers to use that resulting dll as backend (avcodec.dll) without being forced to release the source.
But if you do compile ffmpeg including i.e. the LibA52 (AC3 Decoding) by statical linking then the whole resulting compile will switch from LGPL to GPL as A52 is GPL licensed. No matter if using the compile in a stical lib or dynamical dll way.

A plus of the LGPL is, that your peice of code will be more attractive for the usage by other apps/projects. (also i.e. the ffmpeg project)


In Deutsch ------------------------

GPL = Wenn GPL'ed Code als Ganzes oder Teile davon genutzt werden, muss die eigene Software ebenfalls unter der GPL Lizenz veröffentlicht werden -> Der Quellcode muss offen und ein Vermerk mit Verweis auf die GPL Lizens enthalten sein.
BTW: Der Quellcode muss NICHT mitgeliefert werden! Es reicht wenn er via separatem Link oder auf Anfrage vom Author zur Verfügung gestellt wird (Mail-Request).
Ebenso: Wenn Code die GPL Lizenz nutzt und neben dem Code eine bereits fertige dll (GPL'ed Dll) existiert und diese vom eigenen Projekt angesprochen wird, dann heissts auch hier: Quellcode veröffentlichen.

LGPL (Lesser GPL) = Wenn LGPL Code enthalten ist, dieser aber nicht modifizert wurde und das eigene Compilat jene LGPL'ed Library als separate Dll anspricht (dynamisch, ---nicht--- statisch gelinkt), dann muss der eigene Quellcode nicht unter der LGPL Lizenz veröffentlicht werden.

Geklaut? 1. ist das freeware und 2. ziehen sich zig andere User einfach irgendwelche Avatare, die sie über Googel finden.

Versteh zwar nicht den Sinn dieser Anmache aber wenns dir unbedingt Spaß macht..
