I seen that there is a new feature to run an exe which updates purebasic.

I really *hope* that this is optional?

The current downloads are ideal imo, easy to use and simple (like i am :) )

Please keep this in.

There are prob. more users then me not like what goes over the line.

Thanks,
Edwin,

And think this is a very nice feature.. :)
And I don't believe there's any less privacy doing it this way, than DL'ing it manually...

I have not tried it, and i prob. won't.

But i seen this new lib tool comming out with a similar button.

I'm not aware how it works, and frankly i don't think i wan't to hear that it's all ok, so click the button.

I don't think Fred will actually remove the current (old) way but i'm simply mentioning it if it's going that direction.

I know that maintaining multiple upgrade methods at the end will be replaced with one.

This was asked, and answered before..

As I said: this is an addition, it is not intended to replace anything.

Actually, the .zip update must be packaged first, in order to create the new
update files, because the generator tool uses that as a basis.

So this kind of keeps fred from abandoning the .zip updates

If both need to be created anyway, there is no point in not uploading both.
Besides, it has to be provided anyway for those without direct internet
access on their development pc.

Not at all. The tool just downloads an index file containing filenames, dates & checksums
Then it decides which files are new, and downloads them as well. I
don't see any problem there... it's just lot's of small downloads instead
of one big one.

If i had to ask for each tool i want to update.

Like XP, these kind of updates are a serious no-no to some people.

But it has been answered and i'm happy the old method remains in.

Odd is that our company is going to implement a live-update :)
Can you imagne..?
