Editor Gadget

Do you know an easy way (or some sample code 
) to add an editor gadget under AmigaOS ? I don't want to use BOOPSI as I need a very little editor and I'd like to stay with gadtools so the program can work on OS3.9/MOS/4.0. Do I need to use console.device directly ?
