PureBasic Forums - English

One thing I'm glad to see is the PB forum as active as it is. Most of the forums I grew up with are gone or show very little activity. Kids today are glued to their phones and playing video games and have no interest in creating much. Tried to get my kids into programming and animation but they had other interest as well. Unless it is a "game making" forum and even then it is somewhat mostly an older crowd. How times have changed.

Same here,
in the beginning my daughter was very interested in the "STEM" direction.
Today she is not at all interested anymore.

Same in my robot building club, only older guys like me are still building stuff.

And on the cnc forum, the same ...

We're fortunate to still have an active community but it's not as active as it was 10 to 15 years ago. There used to be a lot more lively discussions, interactions and code sharing. There are probably more people over 30 here now than under but we still have a great community compared to many others and as a resource PB forum is really 1st class.
Getting the younger ones interested in coding with PB is a tough ask as they're more likely to learn python or js.

That's true. I believe I first heard about PureBasic from you when we were active on the Koolmoves forum at Flash Kit.
The forum still exists but there haven't been any posts last few years.

I think that's also a bit natural.
The longer a forum exists, the more topics have already been covered.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's also true for people over 40.

I still pop in their from time to time but not much to read. I guess that is more than expected since flash is no longer a thing.

I still pop into the forum many times a day just to get ideas.

But lately I spend more time burying friends, family and fixing my old body health problems.

Still fire up the compiler to fix little things and will continue until I cannot. Same with Paul's PV because I like both.

Just wish the brain was as flexible as it was 10 years ago as I still have lots that need doing. Oh well.

Hello, without a doubt this forum is the best by far.
As for young people, I think that apart from wanting to be youtubers they have few other aspirations.
In my time to learn to program you needed an English/France/Deutsch/Spanish dictionary and international magazines.
I remember that I lacked hands to pick up dictionaries...

With my daughter the same, now she is a lawyer and has no interest in programming.
Today, with the internet and all the possibilities, no one wants to learn anything.
Conclusion: The brain has shrunk over time. (involution?)

I think this forum has resisted to the first waves of bots.
I remember in 2009, already, between the passwords which are brute-forced, and the forum price which has taken an artificial breakthrough, the technical team has shown the bots have lost.

I remember also idle discussing with a long texts provider bot : Bad place to realize it was not an human. I loose lots of time to read and translate what this bot said, but never I would have imagined these messages were artificial...

So, lots of time lost for the team to clean everything is not human...
