3 years on the forums

As of today, I registered for this particular PB forum account three years ago today. I had one or two other accounts made when I was around 12 or 13, but I hardly count those because I was hardly active.
So, thanks for making me want to come back almost every day out of those three years y'all, and keep being the awesome community you are!

Time flies!

When I joined many years ago, I was nearly half the age I am today, the forum was more crowded and there were more posts per day, but the ambiance wasn't as good and relaxed as today. In fact there was that impression that a few were "gods" and any newbee or intermediary poster would get shunned for simple mistakes, not knowing things etc.; and there were also many beginners who lacked emotional maturity, too, there were a few posters that clearly lacked social skills but were geniuses on the technical side. So for a few years I was mostly active on a "third party" PB forum until it became inactive/the owner decided that C/C++ would be his exclusive professional future if I remember correctly, and PB would only remain a hobby. For years I was a little inactive, also because of login issues I encountered, I believe there was a time I hadn't started the IDE or compiled a program for 1-2 years (!!), with long stretches of inactivity and only occasional coding. Can't ever predict how it will go, but it seems to be phases of 2-3 years higher followed by 2-3 years lower interest/activity on my side. I just wondered recently if I had the same enthusiasm as on the first day with PB, and yes sometimes I can't resist it and become very ambitious again ;)

IMO it's just perfect right now, for me. And it seems we have some collective mind here, often subjects appear on the forums I was just thinking about in private, doing researches - for example idle's little JIT compilation example using fasm, or many other subjects like SSL,OpenGL and even niche subjects. This also happened with PB itself, often I would start coding a "user lib" for XML or Zip and then in the next PB release there's a complete library included. "LOL" At first I was unhappy about such things, sometimes even arrogant because "my version" would allow more fine tuning - to the disadvantage of simplicity; but now I am just happy everything works in harmony with my own ideas and things just happen the way I wish for (with few exceptions and twists). I am super confident and very satisfied, I know things will be great and get better, everything is as it should be, every encountered little mistake is necessary and a teacher.

Thanks, Idle! And yeah, only every other day, mostly caused by this awful process we Americans call high school. :D
Thankfully, am done with that now though, and onto college, although I'm not finding I like it much better. I just want to get a job where I can code.
Hopefully I'll be around long enough to someday come close to your insane level of activity and helpfulness :)

If you have the opportunity to do a computer science at a university and pick up work in the breaks, you would probably be much better off than getting employed as a bit flipper. Thing is finding your mojo is and pursue it.

We can all learn a lot from you about accessibility, I thought that had been sorted 25 years ago but it hasn't and you're in a pretty unique position to teach us in that respect.

yup, I can only agree with the previous writers.
It's great that you're active here.
This forum is a great place, and you are one of the reasons why.
Keep up the good work.

BTW: To everyone else, I like you too.

Nice that you are back ;)

I've been here for 20 years and over the years I've also missed some people like ts-soft who were also here for a long time like me. :(
