tiny icons in IDE 4k mon, Linux.

Post by noxidderf »

Image
The icons on the left are about the size of a pencil eraser on my browser window, right side, about half that. They are 4-5 times as large here in the picture.

Hello, i have a quick question about the IDE tool bar top.
The icons are small, very small. I can make them out but it isn't comfortable.

I am using PB (the latest, recently purchase).
I am on Linux Ubuntu 22.04
with a 4k monitor. tv really.
I have adjusted the setting in Ubuntu to increase everything including font and such.
as well as adjusted most things in PB for comfort.
have I over looked the setting? likely.
if there is nor some settings can i replace the icons with bigger ones like a theme I guess. I could make some in inkscape or something else.

if the above link doesnt work. first time using site

Thanks Fred.

I think an option to set the icon size would have to be added in the IDE.

Let's see how I programme this into the IDE.

PB v3.30 / v5.75 - OS Mac Mini OSX 10.xx - VM Window Pro / Linux Ubuntu

I've used a 28" 4K monitor since 2016 and at first I had difficulty seeing the PureBasic toolbar icons.
Finally I switched to 150% scaling, which helped.

From various sources...
When using a 4K monitor with 150% scaling, you'll want to ensure that your icons are scaled appropriately to maintain clarity and readability. Here's how you can calculate the correct icon size:

The standard Windows icon size is 32x32 pixels. With 150% scaling, the effective size of the icon should be: 32 x 1.50 = 48 pixels
So, the correct icon size would be 48x48 pixels for a 4K monitor with 150% scaling. This size ensures that the icons remain sharp and clear without being too small or too large.

Ideally the IDE would 'auto correct' the Toolbar, so that it would be transparent to the user.
- It was too lonely at the top.

it does help, i forgot to add that. I also use the gnome tweaks which give a finer control over the zoom and fonts. It does cut down on how much I can see (lines of text). Well it would have been nice to make the icons larger. i can switch back and forth depending which is aggravating me the most.

I have managed to shoot myself in the foot with another aspect. as soon as i figure out how to get to my drafts i will post it.
