Hello, Initially... The earth was flat... 
It later inflated... Here's version 2 of the earth it's not flat, no, sorry, night and day, both, but with the earth in 3D, and the moon, and the visitors
Now the night and day cycle is made with textures and materials. Martians included hehe.
