Unicode characters lost when pasting

I have two .PB source files open in the IDE. In one file I've entered unicode characters, but I lose them when pasting into the second source file.
When I paste the above, it is converted to poor man's line drawing characters. Is there a setting I've missed somewhere?

If any others need to know this, it's File - File Format - Encoding:Utf8. I'm not sure why my second file didn't have the default Utf8 set.
