Looking for Suggestions for Editor Program

I'm making a talking editor for blind/vision-impaired users, and I need some help choosing the best editing gadget. It will run on Windows only, so API controls/calls are OK.

The most important feature is to be able to get/set the text of individual words, lines, and maybe even each letter.

Any suggestions as to which gadget (multiline string gadget, PB editor gadget, API input gadget, etc.) and methods to get/set specific portions of text (native PB functions, Windows API functions) are most welcome.

Thanks,
Eric

Per se, all mentioned Controls can do what you asked for. Just take a look into the WinAPI Reference of your choice. As it's for vision-impaired people, the look doesn't matter, so I would stick to the Editor Control (multiline). It's fast and lean.
