It would be nice to have an easy way to sort/arrange the compilers in the drop down...
I'm sure this would be rather personal, so "arrange" is probably better than 'sort'.
I would prefer them to be grouped by backend, architecture, then version.

That would be fine.
I personally would prefer version before backend.
Maybe a manual drag and drop of positions in preferences/compilers?
