MS drones will be drooling at the prospect of adding yet another short lived (and no doubt flawed) language to their ever expanding armory. See...

Me? I'll stay well away, as I have with c# :?

Language?

Longhorn is Microsofts new OS. You will be able to write apps in managed code so creating software in dot net now is a good move.

Read further, there's a new language (ok "application programming model" if you insist) to go with it, aka "WinFX". Took the ms marketing-droids a while to work an "FX" in there somewhere... maybe that's why it's delayed :P
so creating software in dot net now is a good move.
...tell that to IT managers banging their heads on desks trying to keep up with the technology (or is it the marketing bs?), not to mention the increasingly difficult job of justifying their budgets. And then there's the poor misguided saps that are applying for jobs: they'll be adverts out any day now saying "Must have 6 months Longhorn/ WinFX experience". Ho, ho, ho.

True, but managed code seems to be the way Microsoft are going and there are going to be api's in longhorn that are more easily accessible through managed code that native.

I think I am going to stick with dot net. It's a better career move for me.
