Delete spam users

Post by jacdelad »

Ok, so we have ~6700 users here in the forum. Looking at just the ones that registered recently, almost all of them all spam users who either post their sh*t here or refer to to dubious websites in their profile. It isn't helpful to keep these alive here.
Is there a possibility to delete them, like with a rule? Checking the websites associated with the accounts could also hint to which user to delete. This would slim the database and also give a bit security, because the malware-links were gone.

Thankfully I haven't seen much spam in here and as a new user I find the forum incredible valuable.
Looks like it dates back to 2003. Almost 20 years worth of knowledge is worth a lot!
I'm sure the team has their backups.

Making the registration process a little more difficult will help reducing number of new bots.

...also spammers, like AmersonTommy right now, post their sh*t multiple times. So, if someone posts the same more than once within 24 hours -> autoban until a moderator reactivates the account or, most likely, deletes it.

yes there's a lot of zombie accounts, mods can only ban users though.

phpBB by default forces new users's posts to be approved by a mod. The first 3 by default. It seems that PB forum does not have this setup?

That's great news. Maybe the ones with the links to spam websites can be deleted too.

You must have extra powers assigned, it's the same way you can delete all a user's posts in one hit.
