Are the free VPN services available on Edge secure? LOL - No

Now give it a try.
Start typing text with the most popular online translator at the moment.
Very quickly you will be pointed to it,
to buy an account for a lot of text and locked.
Then change the server in the VPN, maybe from Asia to USA.
Well, you will still be localized and locked.
What happens here is known, but to find it here for myself in itself unsurprising, or should I be surprised ?
For people who live in countries that like to know more, this can have devastating consequences if they do not realize this, I guess.

Well they should be at least "relatively secure", i.e. you can hide your traffic from your government, but not from Microsoft. Then if government has some reasons to spy you, they will go to Microsoft and depending on country they will receive what they want. So yes, It's not safe for some really dangerous countries like Russia, where you may get huge problems with police just because you posted some funny picture in social networks

By the way your example about translator may not be a direct proof of VPN insecurity, you may get locked because lot of people using the same VPN servers (same server IP-addresses), so Google blocks those IPs because of reaching limits.

Anyway I personally don't like any VPNs, especially free (as they in most cases trading your data), using TOR should be much better variant.
Can use Tor Browser for high security, or using things like FoxyProxy browser extension + local TOR proxy for some generic anonymity.

Surely if going to be more paranoid (or secure), there are more complex ways, like using chains of different VPNs to connect TOR or (TOR to connect VPN :) ) and so on, but that's another story.

Hi, yes, but unfortunatelly, the translator self localize my.
On Opea VPN i can change, and also Tor.

I myself have nothing to hide, but it's a Hammer.

You can easily try it, when the page is full you fly out.

What about this, it may also not be a VPN-related. There is a lot of info leaked from browser javascript APIs and many OS settings which browser discovers.
If you like see here for example, maybe there is some info allowing to localize.
https://amiunique.org/fp

I also encountered lot of cases like you described (like get localized on some sites even if using IP from other countries), almost obvious that's because of those browser-related leaks.

Hah :) Fortunately it seems like doesn't affect me.. as I have firewall with strict rules which disallows any UDP connections for browser (including DNS resolving, as now I'm using that DOH).
Anyway thanks, should disable it just to be.

// I also don't have anything to hide, lol I would probably not ever posting here if I had something like this. Just don't like to be an easy targed to track

You have to be very careful with the firewalls.
I have often noticed that they did not do what they claimed to do.

GOOD : Windows 10 Firewall Control Free

Nice. You are smart with all related stuff, I see.
Absolutely right, it's hard to find some fair firewall or antivirus today.
I'm using some much more old and straightforward.

Haha. No, thanks (well maybe it's fine, but I'm totally disabling any built-in security in windows)

Nice. So that's what "Pandora" is.

Well thanks for all those cool night talks (the time is 02:50+ here), going to drink coffee finally and watch something like old "Aliens" movies, as I don't like a lot to sleep on this keyboard
Wish you some good time too
