You should wait with upgrading to Big Sur on MacBook Pros from 2013 or 2014. There are reports on bricking the hardware while updating:
- Apple's discussions forum
- Reddit

Not only MacBook, my colleague ruined his relatively new iMac when trying to update...

I updated my MacBook Air and mac Mini without problems, however both of them had beta profiles on them so no hard update.
