				Updated Webgadget on Windows

The webgadget on Windows utilises a browser (Internet Explorer) that was discontinued 5 years ago and is antiquated, missing many modern technologies. Microsoft is now working on the Chromium-based
Webview2. The work of porting Webview2 to PB has already been mostly
done. Please make Webview2 the default for the webgadget on Windows, with IE used only as a fallback option.

				Microsoft has announced the "
general availability" of WebView2 (although I don't think it's included with Windows updates yet) so it's looking good for a much more modern WebGadget.
Hopefully then we could get some really nice new gadgets for SpiderBasic which we could display in our shiny new WebGadget, then Electron can eat PB's dust

As soon as WebGadget2 will be available natively in PureBasic, this will be a huge step forward towards good looking, modern and very efficient UI's.
@Fred: I would sponsor this development with $500.

Anybody else willing to raise the pot?

You're absolutely right. This would be a big step forward for PB.
I'd be willing to sponsor it with $250. After all, if it's worth having, it's worth paying for.
Anyone else?

Hi, i updated the port to the 1.0.622.22 SDK, general availability, here:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=75898
Main difference is that now you don't need edge installed, only the runtime.

I recently had a tidy-up of the embedded HTML help files in my jigsaw puzzle software. There were a lot of "Seriously!" moments when I checked the page formatting in the program's help browser.
There are also a lot of cool CSS features like rounded corners and drop shadows that the old web gadget browser doesn't support. These would be great to have.

				bump up
this is a legitimate request, and definitely future necessary.
especially since webview2 is microsoft's officially API , part of windows 11, part of up-todate windows 10.
and compatible down to windows 7 !
maybe thought, if possible, to be implemented as WebGadget2 (following microsoft policy)
