I have noticed from time-to-time that there are a variety of Bots 'reading' various posts.
Today I noticed that a Bot was viewing a member profile: Majestic-12 [Bot] Viewing member profile

Now, I wondered why this might be necessary.
Whilst I can only read my own profile which is as it should be, perhaps this bot was reading other members' profiles.
Any comments?

It is the job of bots to read everything, including user profiles. Bots can only read the public part of the member profiles, so no problem.

The bots are web crawlers, or "spiders", to index any found public pages (including public profiles) for search engines. It's normal.
