i very surprised at the knowlege of pb is,
becasue it better the c++ in some ways (faster and smaller because it complies straight to asm)
yet it is only 500 known users
but i not sure how long pb been up publicly (year?)
still i don't see any ad of any kind nor people talking about it
is it the name that makes every one think "well it's basic so i won't get far in it and it will have many limitations to it"

I don't think 500 is the limit of the user base, there will be some without internet that have it, and others still that don't sign onto the forums although I can't think why not, perhaps they don't have anything of value to add, or they have better things to do like coding..

Well, there may be only 500 (or so) registered users here, but if you take
a look at
http://tinyurl.com/mitk you'll see that it's had 8866 downloads to
date, with a rating of "popular" -- so it's entirely possible that at least half
of those downloads are satisfied users of the product.

So what? It's the programming world's best-kept secret. Let the other
people have their bloated Visual Basics with required runtimes and DLL
hell.

I got aware of PB because of an ad; I think when browsing sourceforge.net
