Are there any plan to port and update Pure Basic to the new Amiga OS and PPC platform? 8)

Nope. Here is a link to a slideshow of the AmiWest presentation on the status of AmigaOS4

it is still not available and the costs for a PowerPC including OS4 are over 800 Euros(found on a german website). Nothing more to say.......

I was going to suggest http://www.aros.org but it looks like assembler is a big no-no as far as the devs are concerned so it looks like it will never ever happen.

For the PPC based AmigaOS/MorphOS you would need to redo the whole thing to use a ppc assembler like Asm-one or Ptnasm anyway as Phxass is very much 680x0 only. :(

nothing more than the obvious ,said over and over again on numerous discussions like this
"a small market makes prices go up bla bla bla.."
btw you can see the other side of coin too many Pegasoses (Amiga PPC mobo too) has been given away to developers who port somethink serious
(phoenix developers list) nothink more to say

What about pegasos/Morphos??

Its a reality and the actual version works very well, only needs improvements in the 2D routines, and some other things, but its really usefull and very faaaast.

What do you think about a Amiga version non hardware dependant??
It will work in al the amiga-like machines.
(If it can be MUI beter)

Thx 4 all.

(oops, forgot to check back...)

Fred: No, not officially (yet). It exists as beta though. You could probably get registered as a betatester if you where to port something interesting to it. ;)

Im personaly holding out for AmigaOne Lite. A mini-itx version of the AmigaOne with some interesting features. It will most likely be cheaper (well.. not as expensive) then these first boards. HERE's some info about it.

HERE's an article about the Amiga1 with a video of OS4 alpha booting. If you look at it please read the text describing why the screen update is a little slow on the alpha version.

Oh, and HERE's a page with some screenshots for good measure. Showing of the debugging capabilities and OS4's increasingly slick and good looking GUI. 8)

Device 1 on that boot video was not supported by C=! The Western Digital Caviar drives used to boot too slow for the A4000 ROM to detect them and resulted in a kickstart screen...

Anyway I am digressing, it just strikes me that OS4 is Mac OSX visually, and i'm sure the Unix descendancy of both need not be highlighted - although OSX's heritage is clearly much strong than AmigaDOS 3's ever was.

I still remain confused as to exactly what is happening with the Amiga, will it ever re-appear properly as a viable platform, or will the OS just be another alternative that gets as much exposure as Bill Gates wife. Is he even married anyway?

AOS4 is not unix based at all (excluding port made from linux  )

and amiga have its own OS and hardware (ideas of independed os etc proved not possible (there is room for only one unix out there ))

Bear in mind that OS4.0 will include JIT, so most (well programmed) programs designed for 68k will run on it.

Potentially, the current version of PureBasic could work, as far as I can see.

...but PPC native would be nice ;)

the Motorola Blizzard PowerPC and IBM PowerPC are not that far distant in overall design.
Adding native support would open up AmigaOS4.0 but also would allow you to also add support for MacOS.
Seems like a minor market open but worth thinking about; well add to that how lovely it is to work with the PPC ASM ^_^
