mp3 sound plugin now that patent expired

Just wondering if an mp3 sound plugin will become available now that the mp3 patents have expired?
I'm sure many people would like one.

No traction?
I'm currently trying to play an mp3 sound and realized I could use the movie library, but there's no catchMovie for loading it from memory, so a sound library support for mp3 would be awesome.

i thought the patent was only for encoding mp3s, not decoding/playing?

These are 18 different patents.
It has been free in the EU since 2012 and in the USA since mid-2017.
Writes the Wikipedia...
