KOMBUCHA: The 13th Countermeasure
KOMBUCHA 101
I'm drinking from my fifth gallon batch with my 6th and 7th currently brewing.
Compared to what I'd have spent buying booch at the retail $3.50 per pint bottle, my ~$170 brewing equipment outlay will be paid off after my 8th batch.
The home brewed stuff tastes better than store bought.

Kefir is good too, fruits kefir is like kombucha.

Nice, nice, but how does it taste if you add some lager or root?

You can add anything as it's a fermentation.

I thought lager was a type of beer. I do often add minced ginger root which makes for a nice ginger ale.
This is not primarily an alcoholic brew, and IMO would not taste as good with significant alcohol.
Think fruity without significant sweetness.
My favorites so far are cranberry, lemon-lime (what I'm having right now), and pomegranate/blueberry.
Once I made orange blastoff: 2 TBS OJ, ¼ tsp turmeric, and ¼ tsp cinnamon, per pint in second fermentation.
and it was the absolute best cinnamon drink that I've ever had.
If you've never had kombucha tea, buy a bottle of unflavored and see if it's for you.
People describe it as tart sour.
More and more supermarkets carry it, so it's relatively easy to find.

If I weren't already doing kombucha and setting up kimchi production,
then I'd certainly check out the fruits kefir,
and I still may eventually check out coconut milk kefir.

Coconut, good Idea ! I've tried honey and it was good, I was surprised it works because honey is an antiseptic.

The lady in the first video is over-weight and has vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
Any proof this stuff does something? It could just as well spike sodium or sugar and cause life-threatening disease, or "bad proteins" "bad fats" "bad carbohydrates".
A little something on diet since we want to talk healthy: Most produce in the world has had nutrition breed out of it and often times genetically altered to potentially cause cancers. These days it's only slightly safer than meat and heavily processed stuff.

Methinks that you actually missed the first video in this thread, and meant the first video in the
KOMBUCHA 101 playlist.
I'm not trained to diagnose deficiencies by sight, I'm more of a neighborhood medicine man who can treat things like pinkeye, herpes, or food poisoning to save expensive trips to the ER. I'll take your word about her condition which has nothing to do with the topic.

Again it seems that you did not watch the first video which should answer that question and those fears.

I totally agree with you. So I'll see you and raise.

The health benefits of hibiscus tea include relief from high blood pressure and high cholesterol, as well as digestive, immune system, and inflammatory problems. It helps to cure liver disease and reduces the risk of cancer. It can also speed up the metabolism and help in healthy, gradual weight loss.
Hibiscus + lemon or vanilla or strawberry tastes very good. Added to kombucha it's a powerhouse tonic.
This is the only brand that I make. For half gallon of very strong tea. Turn off boiling hot water. Steep 28 grams of flowers for 20 minutes stirring the entire first and last minute. Immediately filter through tea strainer. Mix in approximately 1/2 cup of sugar or stevia to taste. Add complimentary accent flavor if desired. Serve hot or ice cold.
This drink is called jamaica south of the border.

Hibiscus tea is made from flower leafs or whatever you call "Blüten" in English (I've looked it up in dict.cc and it means flowers, but flowers are tulps or roses for me, not tree or bush flowers). These usually produce a natural anti-pesticide named "Pyrrolizidine alkaloid". The German end-user-whatever-hero-organisation warned of drinking too much of it, since it is toxic. However you can't control it in production, because some flower leafs of the same plant have it in a high concentration and others don't have it that much. In some teas they found over 3000% of the inofficial recommended maximum.
[EDIT]
To make it clear: not only hibiscus, but any flower based tea is involved, including mint for example.

Fair enough. Hibiscus may not be for everyone, and you may have noticed sections like
"Hibiscus Tea or Sorrel Drink Contradictions" and cautions placed in the shared information. I'm sure that some people actually like alkaloid induced hallucinations, but I would not like it one bit and would not abuse the flowers or myself like that. My recipe is kid tested family safe.
However if one takes the time to read the warnings contained in the product information inserts for the pharmaceuticals used to "treat" high blood pressure, high cholesterol, digestive problems, immune system issues, inflammatory problems, and liver disease, then they'd likely be less averse to any possible reactions to natural cures and "treatments".
Because so many of the pharmaceuticals actually increase the risk of cancer, preference for the natural remedies that are known to reduce cancer, should be a given.
P.S. Since blood pressure is mentioned, I must add if you suffer from high blood pressure, check this out.
BEETS and blood pressure
Peace in.

Many medicaments have a source in nature, e.g. snake poison or flowers or such. Medicaments are tested in large scale, natural ways usually aren't tested with that much care. There are many people who follow the natural way too blindly. Example:

DO NOT TRY THIS!!!
WARNING WARNING WARNING
Some people eat dried apricot stones against cancer. They think it is healing them and they experience a better feeling. However, apricot stones are toxic! They can have almost the same toxic behavior as cyanide.

I myself got problems with both, natural and non-natural medicaments.

You just went too far.
I consume bitter raw apricot seeds.
In fact you just reminded me to consume my recommended dose. and I am chewing them as I type, thank you very much.
Here I will quote a wise man.
"They are one of the best available tools that is used in fighting one of the biggest effects of the Fukishima fallout, cancers.
Back in the 1980s I heard about laetrile being used to cure cancer in Mexico, and subsequently learned how it had been discredited as a hoax remedy.
Apparently that establishment news story poohpooing laetrile was dis-information, designed to dissuade the masses from knowing about a powerful cancer cure, the a-mig-da-lyn (amygdalin) component of fruit seeds.
"An apple a day keeps the doctor away" has some validity as long as the seeds are eaten.
The apricot has the greatest percentage of amygdalin among the readily avaliable fruit seeds.
However, all fruit seeds contain this curative compound.
About two percent of human beings do not have the enzyme needed to properly metabolize fruit seeds that contain a-mig-da-lyn, and will become ill upon consuming them.
That is why first time users must only consume two seeds, and then wait a half hour to see if they get dizzy, feel nausea, or get a headache.
Approximately 98% of people have the cellular enzyme that is necessary to safely process the cyanide component of amygdalin, and eating apricot seeds will not do any harm to those individuals.
Cancer cells do not have the enzyme to metabolize amygdalin, and it is toxic to them.
Amygdalin is majority plant sugars, and cancer loves sugar.
So the cancer gobbles up the amygdalin, and it dies from cyanide poisoning.
Sweet.
Of course this therapy works best when you don't eat other sugars to feed the cancer.
And it doesn't take all that long to get powerful healing results."

I don't know if you can read German or find a Non-German source:
http://www.ndr.de/ratgeber/verbraucher/ ... ne100.html
https://www.krebsinformationsdienst.de/ ... news95.php
2006: 200 cases of poisoning solely in Berlin, Göttingen, Erfurt, Freiburg and Munich.

The 2% without the enzyme may not be randomly distributed, and the deficiency defect may possibly be genetic.
There must be a reason for the cluster of bad reactions, I don't know.
But the plain fact is that
the vast majority of humans have nothing to fear from fruit seeds.
I Google translated the page at that second link. It contained this whopper of a lie which of course will go unchallenged by the same powers that be who profit from the medical establishment.
"In cancer therapy, amygdalin has no value, because: There is no scientific evidence for an efficacy against cancer."
Living in a culture based on fear and lies is rough, and I do feel sorry for you.
In my opinion, if you are representative of the German mindset, and I believe that your opinion is consistent with and represents a significant segment of public opinion,
then you might want to broaden the scope of what you consider to be valid health information. Strictly for your own good.
Peace in, and I just joined the 1K club!
