Hi guys, I've decided to try and convert some of my Purebasic Apps to Linux and although I'm used to using both Linux and Purebasic with Windows I'm new to the whole Purebasic on Linux experience.

I run Centos 7 and although I've managed to get Purebasic installed I'm having serious issues with finding the relevant required packages for this distro. I can compile really simple code, but anything out of the norm fails ie. printing.

I've read the packages I need are: gcc g++ libc6-dev libsdl1.2-dev libgtk2.0-dev libgnomeprint2.2-dev unixodbc-dev libgnome2-dev libxine-dev libgnomeprintui2.2-dev libxxf86vm-dev

So I have a couple of questions, to start with does anybody out there use Centos 7 and Purebasic and if so can you please, please, please point me in the right direction to get the required packages. And secondly, if and when I finally get this working will any compiled application require these packages installed for any user out there that wants to run it? In other words, will a user of my applications have to go through the same package hunt that I've been doing for the last 2 days?? :o)

Many thanks for your help.

I too was wondering ... is there a way to check say, an ELF binary, to see what packages it requires?
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6242 ... elf-binary suggests that objdump, ldd, and readelf, are at least three cmdline utils which can help, so you might want to try those until somebody can give you a proper answer, and i apologise if im already telling you something old that you already know :)

Thanks Keya, have you got everything functioning with Mint ok? Reading the Purebasic docs, it looks like it is a straightforward (ish) setup with Ubuntu repos, which Mint uses. How did you get on?

Thanks

My experience installing PB on Mint (yes - ubuntu) was mostly smooth, i only had some issue with a printer-related package. Not a big deal for me though as i dont need printing, and within half an hour or so i had PB for Linux running on Mint x86 and x64. I got the feeling at the time that the Linux install guide in the helpfile was a bit out of date so i used one of the "How to install PB on Linux" forum threads where the printer issue already had a solution but not sure which one sorry. I had a similar issue with the Mac install so i hope im not confusing the two heehee, but yes i have PB running fine on Mac and Linux Mint VMs
