Updated for PureBasic 5.31 and Ubuntu 15.10

Step 1 - Install Dependencies

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise universe"
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev libgnome2-dev libgnomeprintui2.2-dev libxine2-dev libxxf86vm-dev libsdl1.2-dev unixodbc-dev
You also need 'libwebkitgtk-dev' for the WebGadget to work.

Step 2 - Setup PureBasic

Extract PureBasic to your /usr/share/ directory.

Code: Select all

sudo tar zxf PureBasic_5_31_x64.tgz -C /usr/share/
Step 3 - Create Desktop File

Code: Select all

sudo nano /usr/share/applications/purebasic.desktop
Paste in the following.

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Version=5.31
Name=PureBasic
Comment=PureBasic
Exec=/usr/share/purebasic/compiler/purebasic
Icon=/usr/share/purebasic/logo.png
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Application;Development;
Then press CTRL + O to save (will be prompted for filename, just hit enter) and then CTRL + X to exit.

From there you can log out and then back in. You should be able to now find 'PureBasic' in search and also be able to pin it to the launcher.
