i have opened a pdf file with many heavy pictures in windows xp/32, and it was too slow and can't scroll down/up easily. viewing the same file in windows 7/32 in the same pc and it is loaded easily and i can scroll up/down easily. i have used adobe reader in every OS, also FoxItReader. the two systems have the same nvidea driver installed.
my system is cpu i5-2500, geforce gt 520.
i guess the reason is that windows 7 use the multi core, and the windows xp does not aware about the multicore. the same with the heavy graphics calculations by DK_PETER here http://purebasic.fr/english/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=60321 it is much speedier in windows 7 than in xp
they said windows 9 will be even speedier than windows 7.

Try "Sumatra PDF":

http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sum ... iewer.html

It's a free lightweight PDF/CBR viewer, and faster than Foxit.

I agree with you PB, I use the portable version, it is very good and can also open the old PDF files that Windows 8.1 PDF viewer refuses to open. :D
Foxit has become too bloated for my liking.

Yes! I used to use Foxit because I was sick of Adobe's bloat,
but then Foxit kept adding feature after feature and became
bloated as well. Now it's Sumatra PDF all the way, because
the author is totally anti-bloat and knows the value of fast,
lean software. Just like Fred here. ;)
