I have first-hand experience of junctions like that in China, riding on the back of my wife's scooter. Everybody drives calmly and it all works somehow.

Of course there are no accidents. Hardly any large vehicles and everyone is on small scooters high high visibility, going at low speed.
Still retarded for having pavement, modern vehicles, multistory buildings, but apparently lacking the civil engineering knowledge to install traffic lights....

Of course there are lots of accidents and almost-crashes, everywhere
and all the time. I am scared every time I have to cross the roads here.
I live in China for almost a year now and have to deal with that every
day as a pedestrian. I can't imagine how bad it would be actually driving
a vehicle by myself (and I have no intention to find out). It's not like
that there are no traffic lights. There are, everywhere. It's just that
the get ignored most of the time. Basic traffic rules don't apply as
everyone tries to get to the destination as quickly as possible.

But the video is from Vietnam, not China - and there are no traffic lights in the video.

Yeah, but the "concept" is the same and there are still a very large number of accidents[1].
Also, it doesn't really matter whether there are traffic lights or not, they will be ignored
anyway due to the driving mentality and the sheer number of people using the roads.

In Nanning (China) the solution is to make an underground railway (like London) and underground subways in the city centre for pedestrians. It is a huge project.

in a similar cases such as the crowds ,i read that adding obstacles may prevent collision , (pedestrians and cyclists). but here it is more complex since it is an intersection.
how to simulate such traffic ?? may be using cellular automata !!
in the past i have noticed that the driver can read the minds of the other drivers, something are pulses in the brain so each one adapt himself according to the situation and all the system developed in time accordingly. have you noticed that we can feel and touch the other person brain when we call him in a phone. "a telepathy" or deciphering his voice ? there are too much goodies in the world.

I think the movements are actually very simple. It follows 3 major patterns.
The first occurs if the traffic is flowing heavy in one of the two directions across the intersection (i.e. direction A or direction B) then those wishing to cross that traffic (from A) form islands to await an opening in the flow. If the traffic slows and an opening forms individuals take it.
However, if the traffic flow remains heavy then the islands formed from waiting cars (and other vehicles) increase in size until they start to block a large part of the flow (across A). When this happens the traffic slows (in direction A) both voluntarily because of conscientious drivers, and involuntarily due to the blockage itself, and results in openings that allow the waiting cars to get out of the way by crossing the flow of traffic.
When this stage happens then the flow tends to flow faster from the second direction (from B) and the situation becomes reversed.
It will alternate back and forth in a similar manner with the prevalent and heavier traffic flow taking its preferences in the intersection.
The second pattern occurs if the flow is equal in both directions and heavier it is a matter of the individual drivers confidence and courtesy as to who goes when and where. It will tend toward inequality and become the first pattern after a short time because that many people aren't making choices that are equal but instead will move as long as someone else is moving at the same time which will likewise result in others having to wait longer until the flow dies down.
The third pattern occurs if the flow is light in both directions then vehicles can cross at any time without much disturbance. Such a condition is negligible in complexity, basically anything goes because nothing would hinders most actions.
Traffic signals help alleviate things when the flow is predominantly in one direction for longer periods of time, or as someone stated earlier, where the vehicles are larger and the speeds are greater. They also work in cooperation with other signals. If there are no other signals or signage (such as Stops or Yields) then having a signal at one intersection but not at others nearby can be more of a problem than a solution.

Look carefully, there is traffic lights

I'm living in Vietnam and I'm using a scooter to got to work everyday.
I was impressed the first time I came in Vietnam, but now it's just normal
But I know a country named Da Lat, and there is absolutely no traffic lights
