Win95 and DOS for iPhone/iPad

Apple has approved iDOS for sale again:

https://itunes.apple.com/cg/app/idos/id377135644?mt=8

And now there's iDOS 2 with a full keyboard layout:

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/idos-2/id918131840?mt=8

Get it quick before they remove it like they have in the past!

It works great on both my iPhone and iPad; plays most DOS games I tried.

And this is Win95 running on my non-jailbroken iPad :!:  :D

Here is Win95 running on my non-jailbroken iPhone 4S. I love this sort of computing!

My favorite experiences as a PC user came from that era. I can't think of how this is useful though unless I run PWS or BASIC on it..

Same. :)

I for one am enjoying all my old DOS games on my devices.
It's nice to sit on the couch and play them instead of being
tied to a desk, or because Windows 7 won't play them. ;)

What is PWS? I'll try it for you. And which Basic for DOS did you use?

Thank you. :D

How do you load/install Win95 and DOS games into the app?
Would it work with QuickBasic 4.5 / PDS 7.x / VBDOS / PowerBasic 3.x / Borland (Turbo)Pascal?
Somebody tried older PureBasic on Win95/iPad?

DOS games: drag them into the "Games" folder of iDOS with any
good iPhone browser. I use iFunBox to do this instead of iTunes.
Then start iDOS, "cd games", "cd [folder]" of the game, then
launch the game as it normally launches, such as by typing its
name. iDOS is just DOSBox for iPhone, so if you know DOSBox,
you'll know how to use iDOS.

Win95 was a bit tricker to install, but I found a website that
had it configured for it. However, iexplore.exe crashes on it,
and I can't seem to find a way to get external files into it. It
may be a poor choice of OS after all to use with iDOS.

I've seen websites showing how to install Win98 on it, so
I'll try that later tonight and report back. Should be easier
and have better compatibility/stability.

As above, I'll try that once I get Win98 running.

QuickBasic 4.5 runs fine. Image below of it running on my
iPhone 6 Plus, bearing in mind you can rotate the screen to
get a bigger window without.

And here's Visual Basic for DOS running on my iPhone:

And here's the Amiga running on my iPhone:

iDOS is worth the single dollar for all this retro fun. :)

You can always temporarily switch your App Store country to get it.

Good. :) Make sure to backup the IPA file somewhere that
iTunes can't get it, because Apple has removed this app
from the App Store before. They don't really like it. :)
