rebrand Windows 9 as Windows XP 9
this is the best advice to microsoft i read until now: go down this page:
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/opi ... -windows-9
also read this in a new article: Windows XP isn't going to disappear in 10 days:
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/opi ... in-10-days
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/pol ... -life-poll
the xp users needs a new support for the multi cores cpu and for the new hardware but they prefer to stay in xp mode. and they will buy immediately windows xp 9
could a miracle change microsoft mind to provide several versions of windows 9 :the same internal engine but with different modes ! .

If true then Microsoft certainly has changed culture, and would likely curtail the growth of Linux.

Previous reports on the matter indicated that Windows 9 might become completely free for a wider array of users, including Windows 8 and Window 7 customers, but there were also some voices indicating that Microsoft could go as far as making this release free of charge even for XP adopters.

I hope that they don't forget we the unfortunate victims of the Vista abomination, I'd for sure upgrade.

maybe Microsoft needs to think of a way to repackage its next OS in a Windows XP wrapper. It should rebrand Windows 9 as Windows XP 9, and whoever gets the new CEO role needs to get Microsoft's software engineers working on a back-to-basics version for the next OS release, merging the best of Windows XP with the faster performance offered by today's more modern hardware.
That's exactly what is required.
