From the news it looks like there's a lot going on in Egypt right now.

I hope it all works out well!

I'm not sure if Rashad is actually in Egypt, but if he is, I hope he will be able to steer clear of danger.

Last I chatted with Rashad -- he was, indeed, in Egypt. Remember, news & media like sensational gore & shock; while it may be hard to watch/hear/read -- remember it's the worst of the worst being reported on. I, too, hope he's ok.

Nope, they don't report anything like the truth. Watch some underground
video sites to see the REAL truth and gore of what's going on. Mainstream
media shows nothing, to give us a false feeling that the world is okay.

Let's not pollute this thread with that stuff, please.

Rashad is Egyptian but he lives in Saudi Arabia right now, I think and I hope he is ok.

I live in Egypt and a military coup accomplished yesterday and the army overthrew the elected president and it looks like a civil war is on its way

News that some leaders of the army are supporting the elected president along with all people who support him, and by the way they are the majority of Egypt!

I am afraid of the coming few hours/days, some people in many districts blow up police office stations, interrupted railways, high speed roads, burning public buildings and killing is the head line now, though, protesters in Cairo and many other cities still peaceful but I am not sure for how much they will keep it that way!

I'm not sure what to think of this situation.. On the one hand he was elected as President. But on the other hand he started instituting a lot of anti-democratic changes from what I have seen reported in the past, and now he seems to be using democracy as some sort of convenient shield in his defense..

While its true that if you don't like your leaders you elect new ones, it seems many people were demanding early elections as it was, and that protesters were being killed before this coup began, and also from the picture of the outside world, it would make sense that if you wait too long to eject a leader instituting "anti-democratic" changes - that by the time actual elections come around it may already be too late to reverse such damage that may have been caused to the political system meant to check this power.

So far it has been reported that the Army has replaced him with the head of the constitutional court, and have called for early elections to be held at some point in the future. Which based on the info we outside Egypt has, so far actually seems reasonable and like the Army has acted in the interest of the population.

I mean, from a typical military coup, you would expect a semi-bloody takeover and total usurping of power, with some military figure installed as head of state and elections not even being mentioned.
