Hi Polo,

It appears that we cannot edit the .pbf file within the IDE. Is this correct ??

I edit the file and save.

I then check the file using an external editor and it has not changed.

....there is an essential amount of formating required such that the code can be represented in the graphics designer, so generally you cannot edit the code manually and expect the form designer to 'understand'. What I and others do is to use the form designer to get the layout of the window to be as required, and from there onwards manually edit, saving the file as a .pb or .pbi. This method cuts off retrospective form editing in the Form Designer, but it's a small price to pay.

I am not asking that the Form Designer "understand" my manual edit.

I realize that if I edit the file, and let the Form Designer regenerate the file, my edits will be lost, I was just trying to confirm that the IDE won't even let me save my edits!!

Rather than exiting the IDE, changing the file extension, running the file to see if all ok, I was hoping to be able to check that my edited lines were valid.

Umm - that's not a "Save" - that's a "Save As" !!

I then have to change the files in the "Project" definition file.

No big deal if I have to, but still not answering/confirming my original query.

well, it is the answer really, just not the one you had hoped for..........

It should work, and save what the file format can, but it seems it doesn't!
Until it gets fixed, make sure you're in design mode when you save your forms.

Ummm - It's a "solution" to my problem (which I knew anyway) but not an answer/confirmation to my original post !!

and I didn't "hope" for anything, I was just trying to confirm my observations.

As I stated, it appears so !!

Once this is confirmed, then I can worry about what I do about it.

Note that I am not suggesting that this is a bug - If that's the way things are - fair enough - I can understand why they do want to lock the file.

And it looks like from Polo's post that this may be the case.

Fixed.
