The new Features List looks GREAT !!!

Others would have made a new Product even only from the steps

3.50 -> 3.60

With this 3.60 release Purebasic makes an important step.

I like Powerbasic, too and use it.

It has very clear help for each command, its stabele, fast
and and longstrings (>2 000 000 000) that make things easier for "BASIC-People".

However, the official Visual-Designer from Powerbasic isn't the big deal.

Besides, the official Visual Designer from Powerbasic its expensive (has (my opinion) NO good manual just as the Purebasic manuals ).

A thing that is common to Powerbasic & Purebasic is that the Forum of both is very active & helpful.
I can encourage everyone if you do not find Code in this Forum, look in the Powerbasic-Forum,
I often find useful things there its several years old and much bigger then the relatively
new Purebasic-Forum.

The biggest diffrence between Power- and Purebasic is shurely the "updates-delays".

A new release for Powerbasic seems to take years.

No comparison to PB where Fred makes NEW, surprising good features every month.

And compared with Powerbasic, you do not need to buy a new Product with Purebasic, thats GREAT
and will help to increase the Purebasic Community.

As example, I guess the last Powerbasic-update before 7.0 was at least 3-4 years before.

However I guess we should not see other basic-product as a concurrent,
but as a chance to get good ideas and helpful informations from.

If I look at the features from Powerbasic, I guess they could learn a lot from Fred's Purebasic.
The unique Features in Purebasic are numerous ... MD5, Packing, Graphics ... and the fact that it can
leave away unused code. the intelligent library handling.

However, on the Powerbasic-side if I look at very simple things like the manuals (with examples for each command !) or the "longstrings", then Powerbasic has advantages that makes it more compatible with
traditional basic programms, and is in my opinion easier to learn.

If you need to know how a Command works, you can see a really clear and easy to understand
example for every command. Then the included assembler is really nicely documented as well :)
and makes Error-Messages which really make sense.

I'm a owner and User of PowerBasic 6.x and never updated to 7.x because of Powerbasic's update-policy .Sorry, $99 (Updateprice) only for simple COM-(ActiveX-Technologie)-Handling (And not all is included) and a few macro-commands is too expensive.I use DOS-versions in several automation-machines and they are working until today. Its still a very stable product ,i never have some math-problems with it.
Purebasic has some bugs/Restriction (Maths and Strings)in it but i trust in Fred to fix it latly with version 4.x coming.
Powerbasic's beta and update-times are 10 times slower than Purebasic ones.
So Fred can still beat them before they think about a new release
I ask the Powerbasic-staff 5 years ago about a linux-version and it rumored now that a 'Console-Compiler' for linux is coming.
Nothing more to say. Some of my stuff at home is working on both plattforms, Windows and linux with only a few changes on the source.

Just about the macros.

If you go to the Powerbasic-Site you can see that they talk A LOT about their "macro-features".

After all these macro features are FAR BEHIND the builting macro features from FASM (and therefore Purebasic).

However there is currently not even a hint in the Purebasic manual and nowhere else.

Someone who wants Macros may think he must buy Powerbasic :) ....

thing that is left is the Alpha Channel on PNG. Ogg Vorbis support is
just great to.
The MMX, 3DNow, SSE(2) support with autoselect. Cant wait to find a
way to use it when i realy need it.

Its just getting better and better, keep up the good work!
