Jotti's malware scan and my app

Just uploaded my app, not packed mind you, to Jotti's malware scan and it reports this for "Clam AV":

Code: Select all

PUA.Win32.Packer.Purebasic-1
What is packed inside PureBasic that causes a virus alert like this? I'm worried what my users will think if they submit it to an online scanner.

Most pictures packed and some other things to (but not from pb)!

This false alerts not good but normal this days. We have to live with this problem.

Damn. "Clam AV" seems to be a bit of shit virus app in the industry. I note that when I pack my exe with UPX and re-submit it, it complains about UPX instead. Might have to release my app like that, because it's easier to explain to others what UPX is, and prove that it's harmless.

I'm more concerned that it actually shows the name "Purebasic" itself! Where is it pulling that from?

We do evaluations of AV software here, it always comes out at the bottom of the list and the least reliable. The two free packages that consistently come out on top for every version as the most reliable are Avast and MS Securty Essentials, there are a few others that are not as consistent between versions but still come out in the top 10% in testing.
