What version of Milkshape are you running? i think the exporter has only been tested for v1.6.4 IIRC

I have latest versions of Milkshape the ogre exporter plugin correctly installed here too, but it just doesn't show up in the menu...

i tried the milkshape exporter using v1.6.5 last night and it seemed to work ok, but i know sometimes it crashes for no apparent reason. I think another exporter is needed. Fred?

You must to download the "DevIL end user libraries"
http://openil.sourceforge.net and copy the DevIL DLLs to the MilkShape main folder.

the 'DevIL libraries' are image libraries? surely nothing to do with 3D exporting?

I had those already - I downloaded the Ogre demo, which had all the missing DLLs with it, so I just copied those into the folder. However, it produces lots and lots of error messages when I export something - the exported .mesh seems to work fine when loaded though, but I haven't tried it with bones or textures yet...
