Cross-Platform Detect CR Without Workaround

Hi Fred & Dev Team... I hate to make a noise, but nobody else will so I guess its on me.
I don't like putting in requests because I see all the truly amazing things you've done and I feel its a bit like looking the gift horse in the mouth, so to speak. Ok, thats a lie. I haven't really seen *all* the truly amasing things. Too much, too many. Not if I wanted to ... not in this lifetime.
Anyway, the *main* request is pretty much as it says in the subject title. Specifically, I need to be able to respond to user pressing the [Enter] key on a string gadget. I constructed a little satire to help illustrate the problem:

If we can get that, as a secondary and related request, maybe a #PB_CR_Silent for use in the StringGadget flags parameter? Sometime as such or similar to stop the *Ding* when they press enter?
