I may be dreaming here, but is there any chance that the PureBasic developers will be working on a mobile version in the future?

Purebasic can be portable (see help, compiler switch /portable ) ,
but that is not mobile enough ?

I think he means creating programs to run on phones and stuff..

If he does mean phones and stuff, then I'd have to guess "no chance."

We should see some quality x64 tablets this year, running Windows 8 ... your software should run fine there.

Has MS said they would allow native code on the x86-x64 tablet versions of Windows 8? Isn't it supposed to be Metro apps only like the ARM tablet version?

Unfortunately, according to more recent articles I posted a couple of weeks back, x86 Windows 8 tablets aren't expected until mid 2013, with many not hitting until 2014. Now suddenly, some are expected later this year. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Personally, I like the fact that Intel is working on porting Android to x86 tablets and will be pushing Android tablets. It looks like we might actually finally have some decent x86 tablets on the horizon.

Unfortunately from what I've been reading, Android tablets aren't faring too well against the iPad and are failing in the marketplace:

The KEY advantage of x86/64 tablets over iPad and Android tablets will be their ability to run legacy Windows apps.

How do they know whether it's an Android tablet or an Android phone
I bought myself one of those cheap Chinese Android tablets from ebuyer.com and the OS itself thinks it's running on a phone, it displays status indicators showing I've got no signal, no sim, etc... and various dialogues it displays refers to the device as a phone.

I didn't have to activate it either so that's another statistic that can't be relied upon to give the full picture of Android's market penetration.

I only bought the tablet to see how well Python scripts would run on a low end Android device and, battery life aside (< 2 hours if in constant use), it's better than I ever could have expected for £70.
