In cases where your security is at risk, or where we’re required to do so for legal reasons, you may not be able to run apps or access content that you previously acquired or purchased a license for.

In cases where we remove a paid app from your Windows 8 Beta device not at your direction, we may refund to you the amount you paid for the license.

I am very glad to see they are taking security seriously. They will be able to remove a problematic app before you become aware of the problem. Nothing unique, as others do this, but it is new for MS and it is good to see.

I disagree entirely - it will be botched, MS always fail to do things 100% correctly. For example, how many times have you used a Windows app and one or more Anti-Virus apps have given a false-positive on it? So, there is nothing actually wrong with the app, it's mission critical to your urgent work in hand and MS are going to hobble it on your PC right under your nose? That doesn't sound too clever........

I do not disagree with you, MS screws up everything they touch. However, I am glad to see MS finally taking some ideas from the competition when it comes to security.

I did notice they said: "we may refund to you the amount you paid for the license" instead of "we will refund to you the amount you paid for the license". If they have to remove the app that you paid for from your hardware and they are the only ones who can approve apps for sale via the store, MS should immediately reimburse the purchase price to the EU.

Microsoft already has AppStores for some years now, for the mobile phones / smart phones.
They are not new into this and have some experience. Works fine on Windows Phone 7 here.

Are you interested in buying a Windows 8 tablet and develop for it? I am.

....in the Engineering industries (not forgetting other giants like Governments) where there is a constant pressure on delivery times, the reimbursement of the cost of an app would be nowhere near the actual cost of the lost time, easily measured in tens of thousands. If Microsoft go ahead with this scheme, they risk being sued into extinction.

Microsoft seems to forget that just because their competition can legally do something, does not mean Microsoft can legally do something.
