OK, let me propound a question that in my head for years...

I really love PureBasic and enjoying programming in PB, it's my first programming language and i learn programming with it and i think it always be best for me.
PB have all of my important feature like:

Great basic lanquage
Exes run fast
Very small exes
Updates always be free
Good support (Live forum with nice peoples)
Exes is standalone
Many included libraries
And.....

But just one thing very concerned me and it's tardy PB updates, tardy fixing bugs and i think it will be worse every year, so i have a question from fred and it's Are you happy with PureBasic project? and it provides your personal life?
My worse is some day i miss my visionary programming languages.

Thanks and sorry for my question.

Although I wasn't aware of it at the time I bought my License, PB is not actively developed full time. It seems to be an important project to Fred, Freak, et al. But they have families and real world jobs which have to take priority.

I think the overall impression I got is that Fred is happy to work on PB when he can, but he has never flaunted it as a die-hard commercial product, or tried to treat it like one. It is something for Hobbyists and small Independent Developers to use and play with, if it works for them.

So, I don't really think it is an issue whether or not Fred is happy, he probably is. An update milestone gets missed? Ok, it is not the end of the world, and Fred wanted to focus on fixing more bugs before committing to a final 4.60 Stable Release. I think that is appropriately responsible on his part.

@wolf
Question: Are your PB programs or projects not working or halted because of missing the latest PB update ?
I think that this already makes it very clear, isn't it ?
How many updates would make you happy ? 1000 - 100.000 or updates for the rest of your life ?
Is there any software out there, be it an os, compiler, game, application or whatever software that will
ever reach the last update and make it perfect from then on ? Answer = No. See what I mean ?
There will always remain bugs in PB or something to improve, adjust, adapt, tune or whatever.
Does this have to make you worry ? Answer = no. Just use PB as it is, and we all know that PB is
really good as it is today after a 10 year development.

Short answer: yes i'm very satisfied by PureBasic. I think it's a great achievement and i'm very proud to have worked with many peoples who have made this possible during all this time. PureBasic is still a cutting edge product, the concept is still working: the initial vision was good. We will ensure it will continue accross the future !

I am coming up on my eight year anniversary with PB. I couldn't be happier. During this time, my only regret was taking a three year hiatus from PB and for that I apologize. Lesson learned, I will never deviate from the REAL PB again.

I too am nearing my seventh or eigth year anniversary with PureBasic, my first version was something like v3.8. I also took a hiatus from PureBasic and went into the world of PowerBasic. Then after a couple of years I was working on a small project with PowerBasic and could not get it to work right after two days so I decided to give PureBasic another go. Within two hours the project was done and working. I commented about this on their forums and was promptly banned from the forums (they deleted my account) and locked out of the products I had purchased (they deleted that account too). So I've been with PureBasic since and will never leave other than we use C++ at work.

I hope you took legal action against them for that. And if they actually have some kind of claus in their licensing where they can ban you for talking about other product, I would certain refer them to the appropriate governmental agency for investigation..

Edit: Jesus Christ there is a lot of bad dirt on this company via Google. I really hope someone investigates them

Edit2: lol... I found this while reading the Powerbasic newsgroup.. In a big thread about a 9+year regular getting banned after a bug report, or w/e
>An alias is *very* acceptable, as long the forum admin knows who you are.
>On my board i add the user but they can change the name, i still know who it is.

Precisly

>I don't like nicknames, it's often very childies, go to the purebasic forum to see an example of that.

Yes, and they come off as being childish and perhaps not take as
seriously, but that is their right and privildge.

It's so nice to know we're appreciated on the "other PB" forums

He actually got off lucky. I have seen worse.

My problems started when I complained about them allowing racial slurs on their forum and their refusal to remove them. I am banned, can't get updates to the product I paid for, banned from community resources and no responses to any email to support, can't get any support for the product. I have literally had three years worth of my work sabotaged.

I could detail a lot more things I have experienced and seen, but this thread isn't the place for it. I have had many private conversations with powerb community members over the years and the arrogance of the owner, his lack of candor and his bullying ways are often the topic of conversation.

You don't report bugs there. I found that out the hard way right after I bought the product.

This is a case where piracy is completely, ethically and probably even legally, justified.
