When will Facebook ever learn?

Once again Facebook has chosen to do whatever it likes and ignore the privacy and settings of its users. I use Facebook because my app needs it, and I purposely turned OFF the chat function of it months ago. Today, it's back ON again because of a new feature of the chat thing. When will these juvenile coders LEARN that a user's prefs must NOT be changed without permission!

Sorry for venting, but if my users didn't insist on FB support in my app, I'd drop FB like a hot potato.

I'm glad I quit Facebook over a year ago....
I only joined it because most of my family was on it, otherwise I have no real interest in social networking sites.

They won't. Since FB opened their doors most of the users are 14 or otherwise total netnoobs.
Doesn't it say all that the most used application is "Farmville"?
They don't care about you or me quitting, as long as they have their stupid consumers.
What do you need FB for?
You can do everything that's really necessary (read and write wall-entries) right from your website, without ever going to facebook.com (you must be logged in though).

I do have facebook but I keep my distance from it and mainly use it to
stay in contact with friends I met from all over the world.
I rarely post anything and didn't upload more than a couple of pictures, and that's it.
But the worst isn't even facebook (as a page) itself...those "like" buttons just make we
wanna puke all over the place. I mean, think about it:
Facebook knows every website you ever were on that did have such a like button implemented.
If you rarely visit facebook, that's fine, they can't anything do about that.
But they can still keep track of all the pages you visit through those like buttons
that spreaded like a desease all over the web...it's just sick...

I just treat all the social media buttons like ads and ignore them.
I have decided that if I need an online way to stay in touch with my family I'll either use email or set up my own website with a forum only family members can see.
Facebook and other social networking sites can pound sand for all that I care....

I'm guessing his customers want to ability to read things you need to be logged in to see, and/or post to FB from the app, or something like that.

Hehe, okay, you're definitely NOT a young'un.

Haven't heard that phrase for decades.

You can't get any distance from that page ... it is like a virus spreading through the
entire Internet ... and all people are loving it. Thanks to the like button you are
also forced to deactivate cookies from facebook, otherwise they can trace you
through the Internet, too. And who knows where this will end.

Facebook will never learn, like so many other large corporations, they have gotten too big to care about their customers.
Personally I think Zuckerberg should change his name to Suckerberg in honor of all the suckers he's reeled in...
