I'm sure many others have experienced this problem from time to time.
Could you please please please move the close [X] box further away from the [<][>] and [/\] boxes.
(tab =an opened program tab)
existing: tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab [<] [>] [X]
.......................................................................... [/\]

Best idea
proposed: [X] tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab [<] [>] (leave the former [X] space area blank)

or

or

There have been many times when using the [<] [>] and [/\] buttons with the mouse while
scrolling through the code, that I accidentally clicked on the [X] box. The program closes
and I have to reload and start all over again. This is very very very and extremely frustrating!
Alternatively could you just include a config option to not display or to disable that button.

IMO, the best place for the close button would be inside the tab, as in Firefox or IE or most browsers.

Personally, I'd prefer the X to be on the end of each tab.

That would be a good idea too. Except it would probably be a lot harder to implement.
But definitely, please please please remove it from its present position.

I like the editor. It's a very useful and powerful editor.
But !, would it be so difficult to just add some spacers or dead buttons (not used buttons) between the
<> \/ X buttons to make it like
<> \/ __ X
( __ represent two or three spaces, because the forum reply removes extra added spaces in the text )
This has always been a source of extreme irritation for me, as others are indicating also.
I always have to be careful when using the mouse on those buttons. There is nothing more
frustrating then when your deeply involved working a on a piece of code, then to have it
gone poof - when you accidentally click the X instead of the \/ button. You have to reload the code and
start all over again. It is very frustrating.

I've never had problems accidentally closing files myself. But the [X] is kind of located in an awkward spot.

Either way, it takes me about 2 seconds to go to the recent files or recent projects list, if I actually close something I don't mean too.

There is a close button on the toolbar, so technically this [x] is superflous.
