It might make sense to make a PB wrapper for this 2D gaming engine which is imho one of the best around.

Cool! It's already done - and that fast

Looks kinda need. Unfortunately, it looks like it was abandoned in 2008/2009 according to the documentation (2008) and last release (2009).
