i start to code a remake of transplant (amiga pd-game) in 32kb
transplant is a topdown shooter game read more here:

this alphaversion includes
-400kb sound
-2 music modules
-5 test levels
-particleengine
-plotparticle engine
-some textures
cursorkeys for moving and space for shooting
your link to ultimate fun

it's the same engine, i use for all things of me

I get the checkerboard screen...hit enter, and it goes black. Space bar makes the laser sound, but screen stays black. I've got Win7-32 (x86)
If it's too easy in the beginning, maybe a starting difficulty can be added?
