After much frantic activity and a couple of hours of DB coding, I've managed to restore ALL archived posts. Why? I originally archived topics to improve the overall performance of the forums. While the move did speed things up, it also effectively lost us the majority of our posts. Quite a few visitors didn't even realise the archived posts were there! After talking it over with Fred, we decided to try to unarchive them - Easier said than done, as the forum we use doesn't support unarchiving [sigh]. It's taken all night to get it working (sorry for the downtime), but I'm sure it was worth it.

If any of you notice anything that hasn't quite restored properly, could you please let me know in this thread. Thanks. It all looks fine to me, but you never know...

Leigh.

Thanks a lot Leigh, it's much better like this even if the forum is a bit slower. We are near from the 1000e topic in the beginner section and it's nice to see :).

searching archived posts seems to be no longer working.

I tried something as simple as 'network' (without the quotes) and got no results.

Ahhh... after some more searching I understand.

All of the archived postings have been restored to the main forum so we don't have to tick the 'archived posts' box on the search form anymore.

I see Fred has updated his article on using the forum effectively to reflect this change.

If I try to list more entrys (eg page 2 of 10) I get the following error message:

ADODB.Recordset error '800a0bcd'

Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

/purebasic/forum.asp, line 338

So I could not browse through the Tips & Tricks Section and the search feature gives no results but I'm sure there was such a topic in the past.

Leigh, could you please take a look on it!?

Tranquil,

I've just paged through every page of "Tips & Tricks" without any problems. Can anyone re-create this problem? Can you give me the steps to re-create the problem please?

I've also just tried searchin and all appears ok. You're not checking the "Archive" check box are you? You don't need to any more are nothing is archived now.

Thanks.

Leigh.

@Leigh:

I opened the Tips & Tricks section, changed the filter to "Display all Topics" and selected Page 2 out of the combobox.

This error occures here at work, same at home on my win2000 server and winXP system. (All Systems latest Servicepack)
