Someone wants to delete the PureBasic Wikipedia page for some reason!
Look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PureBasic
How can we stop this from happening?

Thank you machinecode, we were near a big mistake! I've undone the deletion proposal. Could someone add the new versions to the page to show that the language is popular and active? My english isn't good enough...

Only stable releases are to be mentioned there. I will add 4.60 when it goes final. I wonder who wanted it deleted? There are many BASICs on Wikipedia so it must be someone with a bone to pick with PureBasic. Probably an OOP fan.

No, just click on "view history" to see that it has been done by "radiofan", one of these guys enjoying cleaning the encyclopedia. I have to say that I hate a lot of wikipedia volunteers... But the result is good, so...

Looks like the idiot RadioFan is trying to delete the PureBasic Wikipedia page again... can someone stop it again, please?

Here are his given reasons:
RadioFan wrote:unremarkable comercial programming language implementation. Lacks significant coverage in 3rd party sources. Google webserarch on the topic brings up manufacturer's website and forums plus some self published blogs. Google news brings up no hits and Google books brings up a single book on the topic. Not clear how this might meet WP:GNG

Could someone add new references? Like this one : http://purebasic.developpez.com/

He should learn to search properly. No hits on Google news and WebSearch????????? Even an infant can gets hits on PB in Google if they know how to use the InterNet.

And with spelling like "comercial" and "webserarch", he should learn how to spell before deleting somebody else's hard work.

For the record, there's at least THREE published paper books about PureBasic:

"Purebasic: A Beginner's Guide to Computer Programming" by Gary Willoughby (ISBN-10: 1427604282).
"Purebasic" by Lambert M Surhone, Miriam T Timpledon, Susan F Marseken (ISBN: 6130918909, 9786130918903).
"Programming 2D Scrolling Games" by John P. Logsdon (ISBN: 1-894752-34-1).

Oh, and maybe FOUR if you count a computer magazine having PureBasic on the coverdisc and tutorial inside:

"APC Magazine / February 2005 Edition" by ACP Publishing (ISSN: 0725-4415).

:P

I've updated page. The main problem is that the current references are only linking purebasic.fr pages. We need to references other sources to not be annoyed anymore.

Thanks for adding my book references. I didn't know how to add them, with regard to a section title. "Books on PureBasic" makes it obvious! :)

I also added two third-party books that mention PureBasic inside:

"Malware Analyst's Cookbook and DVD: Tools and Techniques for Fighting Malicious Code" by Michael Ligh, Steven Adair (ISBN-10: 0470613033).
Page 241: Mentions using PureBasic with VirtualBox, along with a PureBasic source code in a linked PDF document.

"Cryptography for Internet and Database Applications: Developing Secret and Public Key Techniques with Java" by Nick Galbreath (ISBN-10: 9780471210290).
Page 300: Mentions that COBOL and PureBasic are still around because very few languages natively and easily handle financial computations in a sane manner.

Note: I only put the page number and book details on the Wikipedia page, not the actual mentionables above. It looks okay, though, and I hope this is to RadioFan's satisfaction now! :)

A new section for the Wikipedia article, briefly listing PB's USPs, might be a good idea.

Where's the link gone to the French magazine review? Please put it back here, as we need to add it.

Anyway, I just found a fourth published book:

"Basic Compilers: Quickbasic, Purebasic, Powerbasic, [...]" by unknown author (ISBN: 1155324455).
Source (site down): http://www.a1books.co.in/basic-compiler ... 155324455/
Google cache: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... gle.com.au

So, RadioFan's claim that only ONE book exists for PureBasic is false.

Hmm, now they've reverted all our changes and still want to delete the article!
Apparently we have SEVEN DAYS to vote whether to KEEP or DELETE IT.
The discussion is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... /PureBasic
